The Order of the Dragon was founded in 1408 by Sigismund, King of Hungary (r. 1387-1437) and later Holy Roman Emperor It was fashioned after the military orders of the crusades, requiring its initiates to defend the Cross and fight the enemies of Christianity. A replica badge for the ancient order of the Dragon. Our badge is patterned after the badge worn by Oswald von Wolkenstein in the 1432 portrait below. The jewel is cast in Bronze and plated in 24 karat gold. The badge measures 3.5 inches (89 mm) tall.
